The idea came to me one and a half years ago. How about a book on Posterior Retroperitoneoscopic Adrenalectomy? How can we promote this technique as the gold standard for adrenal surgery? How can you share technical steps with fellow surgeons? In that setting, a proposal was sent to Springer, the authors’ invitation was concluded, writing was initiated, revisions were done, and now book production is on. Thank you Springer for the support and guidance through the entire process, and for being so easy to work with you.

The book “POSTERIOR RETROPERITONEOSCOPIC ADRENALECTOMY. INDICATIONS, TECHNICAL STEPS AND OUTCOMES", for which I am the editor and author, is now available for pre-order in several worldwide online bookshops (e.g., Amazon, Book Depository, Barnes&Noble, Blackwell’s, Booktopia, Lehmanns, Bookman, ...).

Sharing our experience and ideas with fellow surgeons and urologists is crucial. This is the only way to offer a better diagnosis and treatment to patients. To make a good book, it was essential to gather a group of national and international authors (Italy, Portugal, Spain, and Turkey) with significant experience in minimally invasive surgery, adrenal surgery, and in posterior retroperitoneoscopic adrenalectomy. To all the contributors I must say thank you for accepting my invitation, and thank you for the excellent work. Here is the list of contributors who joined me to write this book. You are all great!

  • Dr. Claudia Armellin, Padova, Italy

Book description in online bookshops:

“This book will offer for the first time a step-by-step description of the posterior retroperitoneoscopic adrenalectomy, a minimally invasive technique, moving the gold standard of laparoscopic adrenalectomy towards the retroperitoneoscopic approach. Detailed information about the technique, the advantages over other approaches, the technical steps, the potential complications and how to solve them, outcomes, and robotics, will be offered to readers.

This practical guide will be of great interest for all general surgeons and urologists already performing adrenal surgery, and for those that wish to start performing adrenalectomy.”

Feel free to pre-acquire this book and learn why you should use the posterior retroperitoneoscopic approach, and how to perform it.
