It was a hot day on 16 August 2016 when the very first post was published on "Surgical Thoughts: A blog about surgery."

The first topic was the first worldwide case report of the Almeida-Reis Hernia — a publication that even caught the attention of Portuguese television.

Since then, a total of 230 posts have been published, covering a wide range of surgical topics, from diagnosis to surgical techniques, including open, laparoscopic, and minimally invasive approaches, videos, surgical department organisation, and hospital administration.

Celebrating 10 years of Surgical Thoughts.

The original idea was simple: to share ideas, stimulate discussion, and encourage readers to reflect, question, and sometimes even doubt what we take for granted in surgery. Ten years later, I believe that idea has been a great success.

Thanks to all the readers and their feedback, I have kept this project going over the years. I have said this in previous anniversary posts, but it is never too much to say thank you to everyone who takes the time to read, comment on, and share the posts. Thank you.

Today, I am thinking: let’s keep moving forward and aim to publish at least another 230 posts over the next ten years. Let’s be here in 2036, celebrating 20 years of Surgical Thoughts. See you there!
