A Comprehensive Training Experience
The Department of Head & Neck Surgery at the Portuguese Institute of Oncology of Coimbra (IPO Coimbra, Portugal), chaired by Dr. Paula Messias, is once again organizing this Fellowship, with Dr. Carlos E. Costa Almeida as Organizer.
In 2027, we are offering 12 one-month fellowships for General Surgery specialists and residents, providing a unique opportunity to train in a highly specialized environment. The programme combines hands-on surgical experience with clinical learning, expert guidance, and close collaboration with the department's internal faculty.
Fellows will have the opportunity to:
🔹Participate in multidisciplinary clinical discussions with specialists in Endocrinology, Radiology, and Oncology
🔹Take part in endocrine surgical procedures
🔹Gain experience with state-of-the-art technologies including intraoperative nerve monitoring (IONM) and parathyroid autofluorescence
🔹Experience real-time clinical decision-making
🔹Learn from experienced surgeons in a dedicated, high-volume endocrine surgery department
