Neck surgery has undergone recent advances with the introduction of remote endoscopic access, which is widely accepted in Asian countries.
In addition to the benefit of being scarless surgery, these approaches offer image magnification, which may help with nerve identification, and good patient recovery. These techniques may be an option to treat some patients suffering from thyroid and parathyroid diseases.
In this setting, my good friend Prof. Jaime Vilaça is organizing the outstanding hands-on course “Remote Access to the Neck”. As part of the EAES Symposium on Innovation in Surgery 2026 (Porto, 23rd June 2026), this course offers attendees the opportunity to learn both the axillary-areolar and oral access techniques. The School of Medicine of the University of Braga (Portugal) will host this course on the 24th January 2026.
