Subfascial Endoscopic Perforators Surgery (SEPS) is a minimally invasive technique, and the only that offers an efficient way to treat perforators. This technique is crucial to heal varicose veins. All doctors dealing with varicose disease should offer this treatment to their patients.
Not offering SEPS to patients is condemning them to a life with a varicose ulcer that does not heal. With SEPS, through two small incisions far away from lipodermatosclerosis or an ulcer, it is possible to treat all incompetent Cockett perforators. This procedure will heal most varicose ulcers and will decrease varicose veins recurrence. It is simple, fast, safe, and effective.
In 2015 I created the SEPS DAY, the only hands-on course aiming at teaching SEPS to fellow surgeons. After five editions, the Surgery Department of Hospital Amato Lusitano (Castelo Branco, Portugal) hosted the 6th edition of SEPS DAY. The 6th of May 2021 was the day we choose to teach four surgeons how to heal varicose ulcers with SEPS. It was a great day, full of experience sharing, in a friendly and organized environment.
Thank you to Dr. Aida Paulino (Head of Surgery Department), thank you to Dr. Sara Correia and Dr Pedro Vaz, and thank you to “Unidade Local de Saúde de Castelo Branco” (ULSCB) for innovation will. To all my friends and fellow surgeons from Surgery Department of ULSCB, thank you. You are all great!
Next edition (7th) is near...
